For me, teaching has been a special calling with full of surprises and wonderful experiences for both me and my students. What I have learned and learned quickly is the fact that, not every student will succeed. However, this fact has never kept me from believing that every student has the potential for success. I always say, “Where there is a will, there is a way.” This potential is so exciting because it changes and presents new challenges and new potential successes.
My students' success is what drives me to continue, and I make it my goal to see them happy each and every day. There have been many cases where I have met a new student whom others called “unteachable”, and this was where your hard work paid off. When a student whom other teachers have written off, learns and flourishes through your teachings. This feeling is exhilarating, and keeps me coming back for more.
Throughout my teaching career, I have always told myself to have a positive attitude and a sense of humor. I have always tried to make my students laugh, sometimes it would be a silly joke I made up while teaching, or sometimes it's a joke a student has shared with me. At the end of the day, kids can come up with some of the funniest things I have ever heard without even realizing what they've said.
I am in constant awareness as to what is going on in the world, and how I can convey this information in a relative way to my students. We have such an effect on each and every one of the students due to the amount of time we spend with them every day. I take great pride in understanding the responsibility I have been given to shape the minds of our future because at the end of the day, it's all about them.
