  We Are The World

Nearly eight years ago I came to Taiwan . So now eight years later working at Happy Marian, I keep telling myself and others that I am really in the great position as a foreign teacher in Taiwan.

Teaching children in Taiwan has been a great joy and rewarding experience for me. In my time here, I have found that learning at Happy Marian is an ideal environment for all the children ages. Since arriving in Taiwan I have had the opportunity to work with children of all ages. And what amazes me most is how the kids learn by doing here at Happy Marian. At the very beginning I started to develop a perception for what children love learning and for what they dislike in their process of learning. And I've found that it's extremely important to make everything you do fun. Especially when teaching story for the J class, I've learned that if they see it is ok for you to act silly, they won't be so shy and they will join in the story telling, using their ability to say what is on their mind and how they see the story ends.

As a AP1 teacher as well as J1 I think that classroom management and especially for the AP1 class the discipline in class is a great of importance for both students and teachers. Positive reinforcement is a lot more effective and also more pleasant for both teacher and student.

Some aspects of learning another language require certain grammatical structures and precise phonetic accuracies which may seem difficult for the learners to comprehend, and not to mention boring for them to memorize and master. To make children work as a group gives them chance to learn more because it makes the fast learners help their classmates that are struggling and same time push them to go beyond their knowledge.

Happy Marian's way of learning and saying while doing motto gives equal chance to all the children. These ideas are by no means new, but can you imagine how much better will our own school experience would have been if we had the same way of learning as the kids today in the Happy Marian's world.

We are the world, we are the children, we are the one who makes a better day.
