~We have so much fun at Happy Marian that the children don’t even realize that they are being introduced to challenging new concepts. Not only are they mastering the concepts but putting them into practice every day. ~ （摘錄重點） During the time that I have spent teaching in Taiwan, I have had the opportunity to teach at a few schools using various styles and methods. I have found the Happy Marian system and curriculum to be one that is child centered and provides various opportunities to practice skills. I find these styles and methods to be the best by far, for both teachers and children. Happy Marian is a school that implements an entertaining way of teaching content and raising issues. This style of teaching helps to keep group's attention, stimulates discussions, and allows participation of everyone. The school’s environment is bright and vibrant as each classroom displays murals of color that promote creativity and imagination in relation to the subject. Most other school’s have up to two English classes a day using mostly drill and repeat methods. Instead, here at Happy Marian we have fun classes like science, games, reading, math, and craft, all of which are taught in English. The children, therefore, learn how to use the new vocabulary and sentence patterns through practice. The children are taught from an early age that learning a new language is not boring because they have so much fun while speaking English. The most rewarding thing about teaching at Happy Marian is all the fun we have. We have so much fun that the children don’t even realize that they are being introduced to challenging new concepts. Not only are they mastering the concepts but putting them into practice every day. Another great aspect of the teaching styles and methods encouraged by Happy Marian is that the teachers and children use relevant materials. For example, if we are talking about food we will have real food in the class to discuss, touch and taste. By using all the senses, the children have a better understanding of the lessons and remember a great deal more. With all of these things combined with a friendly, safe, encouraging environment make teaching and learning at Happy Marian a happy and fun experience.
